Bajor is a class M planet located in the Bajoran system of the Alpha Quadrant. It was the homeworld of the Bajoran species.

Civilisation has existed on Bajor for over half a million years.[1]

For ten thousand years before the discovery of the nearby Bajoran wormhole in 2369 the Prophets sent nine orbs to Bajor, which helped influence their culture and religion.[2]

Around 2319, the Cardassian Union occupied Bajor and over the next fifty years enslaved its population and stripped it of its natural resources before they withdrew from the planet.[2][3]

In 2344, Terri Letac was born on Bajor. Not long after her birth she and her parents were part of a group of Bajorans smuggled off the planet on the Lissepian freighter Pyhapstan.[4]

Following the Cardassian withdrawal the Federation began to aid Bajor recover, eager to have it join the Federation.[2]

Prior to the start of the Dominion War Bajor entered in a nonaggression pact with the Dominion.[5]

Alternate realities

In an alternate universe were the Dominion won the Dominion War Bajor joined the Dominion following the end of the war. The planet's peace and prosperity was used by the Dominion to show the benefits of cooperating and joining the Dominion.

In 2394, the planet suffered a series of devastating natural disasters that were attributed to the removal of the Reckoning Tablet from the planet by the Dominion.

Following the conclusion of the Reckoning a wave of orbs travelled to Bajor and transported all those who were "of Bajor" to the Celestial Temple.

The Dominion investigated the incident and rounded up those remaining on the planet into several camps. After processing these people the Dominion planned to transport everyone off it and simply abandon Bajor.[6]
