Benjamin Lafayette Sisko was a Starfleet officer who rose to prominence during his assignment as the commanding officer of the space station Deep Space 9 in the Bajor sector from 2369 to 2375. He gained a place in Bajoran religion when he discovered the Bajoran wormhole and was celebrated as the Emissary of the Prophets by the Bajoran people. He later played a pivotal role in the conflict with the Dominion.[1]

In mid-2374, Sisko took part in the wedding ceremony of his close friend Jadzia Dax to Worf.[2]

Sisko then took a three month leave of absence from Deep Space 9 before he discovered the Orb of the Emissary and reopened the Bajoran wormhole. He also discovered the Prophet Sarah had possessed Sarah Sisko to guarantee his birth.[3][4]

After sealing the Pah-wraiths in their prison Sisko was ascended to be with the Prophets in the Celestial Temple.[5]

Alternate realities[]

In an alternate universe, Sisko was killed when the Defiant was destroyed in the wormhole trying to prevent Dominion reinforcements from reaching the Alpha Quadrant during Operation Return. However, Sisko was saved by the Prophets and existed within the Prophets' Celestial Temple.[6]

In 2394, Sisko contacted his son via visions from the Prophets and pleaded with Jake to bring about the Reckoning. Following the conclusion of the Reckoning Sisko met Jake, Jake's wife and son upon their arrival in the Celestial Temple and welcomed them to the rebirth of Bajor.[6]
