Prophets

The Prophets during a vision where they take on the guises of individuals known by the person having the vision.

The Prophets was the name given by the Bajorans to the non-corporeal, non-linear beings that resided in the Bajoran wormhole (referred to as the Celestial Temple by the Bajorans). The Bajorans saw the Prophets as gods, while other species referred to them simply as the "wormhole aliens".

At some point the Prophets banished some of their number from the Celestial Temple, imprisoning most within the Fire Caves of Bajor and this group became known as the Pah-wraiths.[1]

Over a 10,000 year period then sent orbs to Bajor, which became the most valued artefacts in Bajoran religion.[2]

A Prophet travelled to Earth in 2331 and made sure of the birth of Benjamin Sisko. Sisko would later discover the Bajoran wormhole and be named the Emissary of the Prophets by the Bajorans.[3][2]

In 2374, the Prophets made an entire fleet of Dominion warships disappear within the wormhole as they made their transit from the Gamma Quadrant to the Alpha Quadrant. It was rumoured that they were also blocking subsequent attempts by the Dominion from reinforcing their forces in the Alpha Quadrant.[4]

Alternate reality[]

In an alternate universe where the Dominion won the Dominion War, the Prophets were cut off from their orbs on Bajor after the USS Defiant was destroyed in the wormhole during Operation Return.

In 2394, they contacted Jake Sisko via an orb experience to get him to bring about the Reckoning, the final confrontation between the Prophets and the Pah-wraiths.

After Jake destroyed the Reckoning Tablet he freed a Prophet and the Kosst Amojan. The Prophet sought Kira Nerys as its instrument for the battle. AFter Kira's death it accepted Jake Sisko as its instrument and engaged a possessed Dukat in battle. The Prophet was victorious, defeating Dukat.

With their victory in the Reckoning the Prophets "sealed the fate" of the Pah-wraiths. At the same time they transported all those who were of Bajor to the Celestial Temple for the rebirth of Bajor.[5]
